What are the exercise guidelines and how can you meet them?

๐Ÿ”ฅGoal: 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week.

๐Ÿ‘€ Why? The goal of 150minutes per week is the recommended volume of moderate exercise according to the most current evidence [1]. Achieving 150minutes per week at a moderate intensity provides the greatest amount of health benefit, for the least amount of input. Essentially, you get the best bang for your buck at 150 minutes per week!

๐Ÿ’ชThe guidelines also recommend that at least 2 strength exercise sessions per week make up part of your 150minutes. This is because muscle building exercise is good for growing/maintaining muscle strength and muscle endurance, as well as bone, ligament and tendon strength [1].

๐Ÿ’ƒ What does 150 minutes of moderate exercise look like? Generally, most people aim to exercise at a moderate intensity for 30 minutes every day for 5 days per week (30 minutes x 5 = 150 minutes). This could include activities like walking, running, cycling, mowing, gym classes or weight-lifting sessions.
